PERFORMANCE
Hammer, mirror, scissors, candle, saw, comb, X-Acto knife, stapler, staple remover, tweezers, matches, tape, ruler, magnifying glass, marker, poem and souvenir from the year 2004: a 90x70 cm canvas that the artist painted.
Ritual to Invoke Art (2022-2004) is a performance that transforms a souvenir of the artist, her first canvas: a 90x70 cm painting created in 2004. Starting from the offering of the souvenir as a personal object embedded with memory, the Ritual invokes with its presence a longing for its place of origin, the one in which it was created with a beginner's mentality.
Performing the Ritual symbolically enables the event of a journey from the known to the unknown, seeking, in the words of Susan Stewart, “distance (in time and space)... to transform and collapse distance into proximity, or approximation with the self.” The Ritual transforms the object into Vibrant Matter and the Artist into Matter-Art, through performance.
