A FELLOW, BORN IN MX.

Angela Fellow (1985) was born in Querétaro, Mexico, to a Mexican father and a Canadian mother, a syncretism that permeates her work. Having worked as a teacher and architect with a Master's degree in Urban Planning, in 2018 she moved to Tallinn, Estonia to pursue a Master's degree in Contemporary Art at the Estonian Academy of Arts. Since then, her work, in the form of performances, multimedia installations, visual poems, and material explorations, has been presented in Mexico, Estonia, England, Finland, Lithuania, and Portugal.

Her artistic practice seeks to expand the perception and determination of the conscious or unconscious values assigned to the world around us. Often blurring the distinction between the human and the non-human, Angela Fellow allows the materials, media, and techniques employed to be the result of a recurring encounter and the way in which she exchanges sensibilities between them, recognizing that in the act of transformation, both matter and artist are transformed.

She currently lives and works in her hometown, where she has just begun an Artistic and Research Residency Based on Practice at the Center for Critical Studies and Contemporary Culture of the Autonomous University of Querétaro, under the line of Bioart and Biopower.
